The Royal Scots Club offers 27 en-suite bedrooms, including four-poster rooms with king-size beds and family rooms with double and single beds. Some rooms face Queen Street Gardens, while others offer views of Edinburgh's New Town toward the Firth of Forth. Four additional rooms are located at 34A Abercromby Place, 40 meters from the main building.
Scottish Dining Experience
The Abercromby Dining Room serves lunch (12-2pm) and dinner (6-8pm) Tuesday through Saturday, overlooking Queen Street Gardens. The kitchen utilizes local Scottish produce for traditional dishes. The Club offers private pre-tattoo meals for groups of 8-30 guests at £31 for two courses or £35 for three courses with complimentary room hire. Bar food is available in the lounge and library from noon until 2pm Tuesday-Saturday.
Events and Social Calendar
The Club hosts regular events including wine tastings, evening lectures, murder mysteries, literary lunches, and themed dinners like Burns Suppers and Christmas Céilidh. Six function rooms accommodate meetings, conferences, and private events for 2 to 160 guests. The Princess Royal Suite features a large dance floor and stage for entertainment with an adjacent private bar. The Club can host wedding receptions and graduation balls with personalized menus and full silverware service.
New Town Location Access
Located in Edinburgh's New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Club is steps from Queen Street Gardens. Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle are 1 km away, while the Scottish National Gallery is 500 meters. Parking is available on Northumberland Street and Drummond Place (metered Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm at £3.70 per hour). The property is surrounded by neoclassical architecture, upscale boutiques, and local eateries.
Membership and Reciprocal Access
The Club offers membership categories starting from £35 per month, providing access to over 220 reciprocal clubs worldwide including London establishments like the Army & Navy Club and East India Club. Services include event coordination, private dining planning, and letters of introduction for reciprocal club visits. The Club provides co-working spaces with articulated monitors, podcast equipment, and free coffee/tea refills. Membership includes a £50 voucher for the Dining Room upon joining.
